Angela Hughes
Senior Account Manager
Angela has over six years' PR experience and has worked with a range of clients in the public and private sector.
Working in the commercial sector her clients have included Kwik-Fit Insurance Services, chartered accountants Martin Aitken and Company, The PRG Partnership Solicitors, Reid Furniture and Ocean Terminal. She has also worked on various public sector accounts including Scottish Enterprise, NHS Scotland and Jobcentre Plus.
Since joining Barkers she has managed a number of high-profile Scottish Executive campaigns including the One Scotland anti-racism campaign and has developed a number of different initiatives under the campaign including an annual stakeholder consultation and PR support for sponsorship of events. Angela also manages the Scottish Executive's winter flu campaign to remind vulnerable groups to have their annual flu jab.
When Scotland hosted the G8 Summit in July 2005 Angela was heavily involved in managing the branding process on behalf of the Scottish Executive. She organised two inbound media visits of foreign journalists in advance of G8 and was part of the project management team for the Scottish exhibition on-site at Gleneagles.
Earlier this year she managed a campaign in the run up to the 2006 Melbourne Games to encourage public support for Scotland's bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. This included media relations, event management and sponsorship, corporate partnerships and shopping centre promotions.
Angela has a BA Honours in Communication and Mass Media and has recently been successful in gaining the CIPR Diploma. She is a member of the CIPR.
